Terms & Conditions
Grizzly Driving Academy · DMV License E0816
Version 1.0 · Last updated: January 1, 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of GrizzlyDrivingAcademy.com and all services provided by Grizzly Driving Academy, including online driver education, behind-the-wheel driver training, the Student Dashboard and Chat Support. Part A covers use of the website. Part B reproduces the complete enrollment Terms & Conditions that every student and parent/guardian signs electronically before a lesson is scheduled. By using this website or enrolling, you accept both parts.
Part A — Website & Service Terms
A1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing this website, creating an account, starting a chat, purchasing an online course, or enrolling in driving lessons, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions, our Privacy Policy and our Refund & Cancellation Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the website or our services.
A2. Who May Enroll
Behind-the-wheel driver training requires a valid California learner's permit. A student under 18 may only be enrolled by a parent or legal guardian, who must provide their own information and sign electronically together with the student. Both signatures, printed names and time stamps are recorded with the enrollment.
A3. Service Area
Behind-the-wheel lessons are offered only inside our published pickup area. Before you can select a package you must enter the pickup ZIP code so we can confirm we service that location. Pickup is currently available in Long Beach, Compton, Norwalk and Cerritos. ZIP codes in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties are recognized by our system, but recognition of a ZIP code does not mean lessons are currently offered there. Service areas may be added or removed at any time.
A4. Accounts, Passwords and Access
A Student Dashboard account is created when you enroll. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Instructor and Administrator dashboards are for authorized staff only; unauthorized access attempts may be reported. Notify us immediately through Chat Support if you believe your account has been compromised.
A5. Electronic Signatures and Records
You consent to conduct this transaction electronically. Electronic signatures captured during enrollment have the same legal effect as handwritten signatures. We maintain a record of the exact version of these Terms & Conditions that was presented and accepted, who accepted it, and the date and time of acceptance. A printable enrollment record containing the full agreement and both signatures is available and may be provided to a payment processor, bank or regulator when required.
A6. Pricing and Payment
- Individual 2-hour lesson — $250 ($50 non-refundable deposit online, $200 due at pickup).
- 6-hour behind-the-wheel package — $599 ($99 non-refundable deposit online, $500 due at pickup). Certificate included.
- 30-Hour Online Driver's Education Course — $50, paid in full online. No refunds once the course has been purchased.
- Add-on services — starting at $150.
Deposits are paid online by debit or credit card. The remaining balance is due when the instructor arrives and must be paid in cash, money order, or cashier's check. Prices, deposits and fees may change at any time; the amounts shown at the time of your purchase are the amounts that apply to your enrollment.
A7. Fees
- $15 change fee for rescheduling or changing a lesson date or time (paid through the Student Dashboard).
- $50 no-show / rebooking fee.
- $50 replacement certificate fee, plus additional fees for expedited mailing.
A8. Certificates
Certificates of completion are issued only after the required instruction hours have been completed and all applicable requirements have been met. Students taking individual 2-hour lessons do not receive a certificate until the third 2-hour lesson is completed, for a total of 6 hours. Certificate issuance is subject to California DMV requirements.
A9. Online Courses
Online course access is granted to a single student for personal use only. Course content, videos, quizzes and materials are the property of Grizzly Driving Academy or its licensors and may not be copied, recorded, downloaded, shared, resold or used to train any automated system. Sharing account credentials, having another person complete course material, or circumventing timers, quizzes or progress tracking is grounds for immediate termination of access without refund and may invalidate any certificate issued.
A10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to interfere with the operation of the website, attempt to access data you are not authorized to access, scrape or bulk-download content, submit false information, impersonate another person, or use Chat Support to send abusive, threatening or harassing messages. We may suspend or terminate access for any violation.
A11. Customer Service Channels
We do not provide a customer service phone number or customer service email address. All customer service is handled through Chat Support, the Student Dashboard, or text message. Instructors are not customer service representatives and cannot resolve enrollment, pricing, scheduling or billing matters during a lesson.
A12. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — text, video, graphics, logos, course materials, curriculum, forms and software — is owned by Grizzly Driving Academy or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. No license is granted except the limited right to view the site and use the services you have purchased.
A13. Disclaimers
Instruction is provided by California DMV-licensed driving instructors, but driving involves inherent risk. We do not guarantee that a student will pass the DMV knowledge test, the DMV behind-the-wheel drive test, or obtain a driver's license. Completion of our program does not guarantee any DMV outcome. Except as expressly stated, the website and services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
A14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by California law, Grizzly Driving Academy's total liability arising out of or relating to your use of the website or services will not exceed the amount you actually paid to us for the service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
A15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Grizzly Driving Academy, its owners, employees and instructors from claims, damages and costs arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the services, or false or incomplete information you provided during enrollment.
A16. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California. Before filing a payment dispute or chargeback, you agree to first contact us through Chat Support so we can review the matter.
A17. Severability and Changes
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. We may update these Terms at any time; the version in effect at the time of your enrollment governs that enrollment, and continued use of the website after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms for future activity.
Part B — Complete Enrollment Terms & Conditions
The following is the complete enrollment agreement, reproduced verbatim as it is presented and electronically signed by the student and parent/guardian during enrollment. Deposit and balance amounts shown in your signed copy reflect the package you selected.
1. Deposits Are Non-Refundable
All deposits are non-refundable.
2. Remaining Balance & Payment Before the Lesson
Any remaining balance must be paid when the instructor arrives by cash, money order, or cashier's check. The instructor must call the payment in to the school before the lesson begins so the school can process the payment and issue a receipt.
The payment and the student's valid learner's permit must be provided to the instructor before the lesson starts. Instructors are strictly prohibited from beginning a lesson before collecting the required payment and verifying the permit. This requirement cannot be waived by the student, parent/guardian, or instructor.
Any instructor who begins a lesson without first collecting the required payment and verifying the permit will be subject to termination.
3. Students and Parents/Guardians Must Be Respectful
Students and parents/guardians are expected to treat instructors with courtesy and respect at all times.
4. The Student Must Be Ready for the Lesson
When the instructor arrives, the student must be ready to begin the lesson. Instructors are not sales representatives and are not responsible for convincing a parent/guardian to allow the student to participate. The student should be prepared and ready to drive when the instructor arrives.
5. Questions and Concerns Must Be Addressed Before the Lesson
Parents/guardians should address any questions, concerns, or issues before the instructor arrives. Customer service is available online through Chat Support or the Customer Service page. Instructors are not customer service representatives and are not responsible for resolving enrollment, pricing, scheduling, or other customer service matters during a lesson.
6. Lessons May Be Cancelled if There Are Concerns at Pickup
If an instructor arrives and the student or parent/guardian is disrespectful, confrontational, or expresses fear or concerns or decides they do not want the student to participate, the instructor may cancel the lesson.
The deposit will remain non-refundable. The instructor is not required to remain at the location while concerns are discussed.
Instructors are not therapists or counselors. Parents and guardians must understand and be comfortable with the service before scheduling a lesson. A state-licensed driving instructor whom you may not know will be arriving at the scheduled location to teach the student. If you are not comfortable with this arrangement, please do not schedule a lesson with us.
7. Student Must Be Fit to Drive
If the instructor determines that the student appears to be intoxicated, under the influence of drugs or alcohol, impaired, or otherwise not fit to safely participate in the lesson, the lesson will be cancelled and the deposit will not be refunded.
If the student is experiencing severe anxiety, panic, nervousness, depression, emotional distress, or another condition that prevents them from safely participating in the lesson, the instructor may cancel the lesson.
Instructors are driving instructors, not therapists, counselors, or mental-health professionals. It is not the instructor's responsibility to make a student comfortable with driving or to provide counseling or emotional support. The student must be ready and able to safely participate in the lesson when the instructor arrives.
8. Respect the Instructor's Time
Instructors have scheduled appointments throughout the day and cannot remain at the location for extended conversations before or after a lesson.
9. Photos and Identification
Instructors are not required to participate in family photos. Students or parents/guardians may not photograph, copy, or otherwise capture an instructor's identification or ID card.
10. Student Hygiene
Students are expected to arrive with appropriate personal hygiene and clothing suitable for driving instruction.
11. Safety and Pickup Arrangements
Parents/guardians are responsible for making appropriate arrangements for the student before and after the lesson. The instructor is not responsible for supervising the student outside of the scheduled driving lesson.
12. Valid Learner's Permit Required
The student must have a valid California learner's permit before beginning a driving lesson. If the student does not have a valid permit, the lesson will be treated as a no-show/late cancellation, and a $50 rebooking fee will apply.
13. No Passengers or Ride-Alongs
No additional passengers or ride-alongs are permitted during driving lessons.
14. Disabilities or Special Accommodations
Any disabilities, medical conditions, learning needs, or other circumstances that may affect the student's ability to participate in driving instruction must be disclosed before the lesson is scheduled so we can determine whether appropriate accommodations can be provided.
15. Instructor Assignment
We cannot guarantee a specific instructor unless the service purchased specifically guarantees instructor selection. Instructor assignments are based on availability and scheduling.
16. Communication Before the Lesson
Parents/guardians should discuss any questions, concerns, special circumstances, or expectations with the driving school before the instructor arrives. Customer service is available online through Chat Support or the Customer Service page so the instructor can focus on providing the scheduled driving instruction.
17. Other Students or Instructors May Be Present
Parents/guardians understand that, in certain circumstances, another student or driving instructor may be present in the vehicle during a lesson.
This may occur for various reasons, including instructor training, scheduling needs, or unexpected circumstances, such as an instructor or student being unable to access their home or retrieve their keys. The driving school will make reasonable efforts to maintain student privacy and safety while accommodating these situations.
18. Lost, Misplaced, or Damaged Certificates
Lost, misplaced, or damaged certificates must be reordered online through the Student Dashboard. A $50 replacement fee applies.
If you believe the instructor did not provide your certificate, you must report it within 72 hours of your last lesson. If the issue is not reported within 72 hours, the certificate will be considered lost or misplaced, and the $50 replacement fee will apply. No exceptions.
Replacement certificates will be mailed by standard mail. If you need the certificate rushed or expedited, additional fees will apply.
19. Payment Disputes, Chargebacks & Fraudulent Payments
Customers are encouraged to contact the driving school through Chat Support or the Customer Service page before initiating a payment dispute when there is a question or concern about a charge. We will make reasonable efforts to review and resolve legitimate billing concerns.
If a customer files a chargeback or payment dispute for a transaction that was authorized, properly charged, and for services that were provided or made available as agreed, the driving school may provide the payment processor with applicable documentation, including enrollment records, receipts, lesson records, attendance records, communications, signed agreements, and other relevant information.
Payments made using fraudulent, stolen, unauthorized, or otherwise invalid payment information may result in cancellation of services and may be reported to the appropriate payment processor or authorities when appropriate.
20. Refund Policy
Refunds are only issued when the driving school is unable to provide the scheduled service for reasons outside of the customer's control. Examples may include: mechanical problems, assigned instructor is unexpectedly unavailable, or the school is otherwise unable to provide the scheduled lesson.
Refunds will not be issued if the parent/guardian expresses fear or concerns or decides they do not want the student to participate after the instructor arrives. The instructor will not attempt to convince or pressure the parent/guardian to proceed with the lesson. The instructor will simply cancel the service, and the deposit will remain non-refundable.
Refunds are also not issued for customer-caused cancellations, including no-shows, late cancellations, failure to have a valid permit, failure to be ready when the instructor arrives, or other circumstances caused by the customer. Any applicable rebooking fees will still apply.
21. Instructor Pickup Window & Arrival Time
The scheduled pickup time is a pickup window, not an exact arrival time. Due to unpredictable traffic, road conditions, weather, previous lessons, and other circumstances on the road, instructors may arrive at any time within the scheduled pickup window.
Parents/guardians and students should be ready and available for the entire pickup window. The instructor may arrive toward the end of the scheduled window, and this should not be considered a late arrival as long as the instructor arrives within the scheduled window.
The instructor will only contact you if they expect to arrive after the scheduled pickup window. If you have not heard from the instructor, please assume they are still on schedule and may arrive at any time within the pickup window.
22. Instructor Communication & Pickup Procedure
The instructor will communicate with the student or parent/guardian by phone call or text message regarding the lesson and pickup. By scheduling a lesson, customers agree to receive text message communication from the driving school and/or instructor related to the scheduled service.
For safety and security reasons, instructors do not go to the customer's door or enter the customer's home. The student and parent/guardian must be ready to meet the instructor at the designated pickup location.
The student must have their valid learner’s permit and required payment ready and must be inside the vehicle within 5 minutes of the instructor’s arrival. If the student is not paid, does not have their valid permit, or is not inside the vehicle within 5 minutes of the instructor’s arrival, the lesson will be deemed a no-show, the instructor will leave, and any applicable no-show or rebooking fees will apply.
Please remain available by phone during the entire scheduled pickup window.
Definition of a “no-show.” For the purposes of this agreement, a “no-show,” a “late cancellation,” and any other customer-caused failure to start a scheduled lesson are treated the same way. This includes, without limitation: a cancellation or change made less than 72 hours before the scheduled lesson; the student not being present, not having their valid permit, or not having the required payment ready within 5 minutes of the instructor’s arrival; concerns about getting into the vehicle; and any other circumstance caused by the customer that prevents the lesson from starting. In every case, the deposit is forfeited and the $50 rebooking fee applies before a new lesson can be scheduled. No exceptions.
23. Individual 2-Hour Lessons & Certificate Issuance
If a customer chooses to complete individual 2-hour driving lessons instead of purchasing the standard lesson package, a certificate will not be issued until the student has completed the third 2-hour lesson, for a total of 6 hours of completed driving instruction.
The certificate will be issued only after all required instruction hours have been completed and the student has met the applicable requirements.
24. Instructor Teaching Styles & Student Participation
Just like teachers, coaches, and instructors at school, every driving instructor has their own teaching style, personality, and approach to instruction. You may like one instructor's teaching style more than another's, and that is normal.
Students and parents/guardians should understand that not every instructor will teach in the exact same way. The student is expected to be respectful, receptive to instruction, and ready and willing to participate in the lesson.
The instructor's job is to teach the student how to drive safely and properly. The student's job is to listen, participate, follow instructions, and make a genuine effort to learn.
25. Rescheduling or Changing a Lesson
Rescheduling a lesson or changing the date or time of a scheduled lesson requires a $15 change fee, which must be paid through the Student Dashboard.
All changes must be made at least 72 hours before the scheduled lesson. Changes made less than 72 hours before the lesson will be treated as a no-show, and a $50 rebooking fee will apply.
No exceptions apply to the 72-hour requirement, regardless of the reason for the late change or cancellation. The instructor has reserved that time specifically for the student and is required to be compensated for the scheduled appointment, even when the customer has a legitimate reason for needing to reschedule.
By scheduling a lesson, the customer acknowledges and agrees to this policy.
26. Instructor Language
Our instructors communicate in English. Some instructors may speak additional languages or have different cultural or language backgrounds; however, we cannot guarantee that an instructor will speak any language other than English.
Students must be able to understand and communicate sufficiently in English to safely participate in driving instruction.
27. Customer Service Communication
We do not provide customer service through a customer service phone number or email address. All customer service communication must be handled online through Chat Support or by text message.
Customers should use the Student Dashboard, Chat Support, or text messaging for questions, scheduling, account issues, and other customer service needs. Instructors are not responsible for handling customer service matters during driving lessons.
