Grizzly Driving Academy is committed to making GrizzlyDrivingAcademy.com, our online courses, our Student Dashboard and our driver training services usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we welcome feedback about anything on this site that is difficult to use.
1. Our Standard
We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and we design with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the California Unruh Civil Rights Act in mind. We test new pages and features as they are built and correct issues as they are identified.
2. Accessibility Features on This Website
- Semantic HTML headings, landmarks and lists so screen readers can navigate the page structure
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images and icons
- Keyboard-accessible navigation, forms, menus, chat and enrollment flow
- Visible focus states on interactive elements
- Text and background color combinations chosen for contrast, with critical amounts (deposit, balance and fees) reinforced by words as well as color
- Responsive layouts that work on phones, tablets and desktops, and that support browser zoom and enlarged text
- Form fields with visible labels, input formatting help (for example phone numbers) and clear error messages
- Video content presented with on-page text explanations of the same information
- No content that flashes rapidly
3. Accessible Enrollment and Customer Service
We do not operate a customer service phone number or email address; all customer service is provided through Chat Support, the Student Dashboard, or text message. Text-based support is available to customers who are deaf or hard of hearing without the need for a relay service. If you need assistance completing enrollment because of a disability, start a chat and a team member will help you through it.
4. Accommodations for Driving Instruction
Behind-the-wheel instruction is a physical, in-vehicle service, and some accommodations require advance planning. As stated in our enrollment Terms & Conditions:
Any disabilities, medical conditions, learning needs, or other circumstances that may affect the student's ability to participate in driving instruction must be disclosed before the lesson is scheduled so we can determine whether appropriate accommodations can be provided.
Disclosing this information in advance lets us assign an appropriate instructor and vehicle, allow extra time where needed, and adjust the teaching approach. Information you share is treated as confidential and is used only to deliver the service safely. We will work with you in good faith to identify a reasonable accommodation; if an accommodation would fundamentally alter the service or create a safety risk that cannot be mitigated, we will tell you before you pay a deposit.
5. Language
Instruction is delivered in English. Some instructors speak additional languages, but we cannot guarantee that an instructor will speak any language other than English. Students must be able to understand and communicate sufficiently in English to safely participate in driving instruction. This requirement exists for safety: the student must be able to follow spoken instructions immediately while operating a vehicle.
6. Assistive Technology
Our site is built to work with current versions of common browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and with screen readers such as VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA and JAWS. Older browsers may not support every feature. Cookies and JavaScript must be enabled for the dashboard, enrollment and chat to function.
7. Third-Party Content
Some elements of our site rely on third-party services, such as hosted fonts, icon libraries and payment processing. We do not control the accessibility of third-party content, but we choose vendors with accessibility in mind and will look for alternatives when a component creates a barrier.
8. Known Limitations
Accessibility is an ongoing process and some areas may not yet fully conform. Where we identify a barrier that cannot be corrected immediately, we will provide the same information or service through Chat Support so you are not prevented from enrolling or managing your account.
9. Giving Us Feedback
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this website, in an online course, or during a driving lesson, tell us through Chat Support. Please include the page or feature involved, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. We review accessibility reports promptly and will let you know what we are doing about it.
10. Requesting an Accommodation
- Open Chat Support on any page, or use the Customer Service section of the home page.
- Tell us the student's name and describe the accommodation needed.
- Do this before scheduling and paying a deposit so we can confirm what we are able to provide.
- We will confirm the arrangements in writing through chat before the lesson is scheduled.
